Free Online Tutoring
Presently, all schools in Newfoundland and Labrador have access to the Tutoring for Tuition Program. This program provides free face-to-face tutoring to students needing academic supports. In addition, the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI) offers online tutoring. Both programs are sponsored and funded by the Department of Human Resources, Labor and Employment.
This online tutoring service will soon be available to all students in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It covers most public exam courses including English 3201, Physics 3204, Chemistry 3202, Biology 3201, French 3200, World Geography 3202, World History 3201, Math 3204, and Math 3205. This online service will begin Wednesday, January 14, 2009, and is in addition to the existing face-to-face tutoring that is currently available in schools. Students will be able to receive online tutoring assistance from any location that has access to a computer and an internet connection. This online support is beneficial as many students often encounter problems understanding key concepts while doing homework during evening hours.
